Half Day Tutorial B

Getting Started with API Security Testing and Automation

Bas Dijkstra

Booked Out
09:00 - 12:30, Monday Nov 10th CET
Now that over 80% of all data on the Internet is being exchanged via APIs, it is our responsibility as development teams to make sure that those APIs and that data are secure.
However, security testing is often still seen as a highly specialized task, something that should be and can only be done by security experts.

BACK TO PROGRAMME

What you will Learn

  1. You don't need to be a security expert to perform valuable security tests on your APIs.
  2. You can uncover a lot of valuable information about the security of your APIs with common testing tools.
  3. The OWASP API security top 10 is a very useful guide when performing (and learning to perform) API security tests.

Bas Dijkstra

On Test Automation, Netherlands

Hey, my name is Bas Dijkstra, and I am an independent test automation consultant and trainer. I have been active in the test automation field for some 18 years now, and have worked on software testing and automation solutions across a wide range of programming languages, frameworks and technology stacks. I’ve delivered test automation training to dozens of companies and hundreds of conference attendees in the Netherlands as well as abroad, to excellent reviews. I’m also the developer of RestAssured.Net, a library that is meant to make writing tests for HTTP APIs in C# a breeze. I live in Amersfoort, The Netherlands, together with my wife and two sons. When I am not at work, I like to go outside for a long bike ride, or to sit down and play a game of chess or read a good book.
