Beyond Bug-Hunt: What Does Generative AI Add to our Purpose?

Adam Matłacz

09:00-12:30, Wednesday 9th October

“AI will take my job!” – random testers in 2022, when learning about ChatGPT capabilities

The idea of AI and machine learning can be traced back to Alan Turing’s work in the 1950s. Over seventy years later, easy access to AI-based tools has sparked a heated discussion, fueled by a mix of emotions: excitement about new possibilities, and concerns about job replacement.

Does widespread access to generative AI change our fundamental purpose as testers? This half-day interactive workshop aims to address this question by exploring the possibilities and implications of using generative AI in testing. We’ll begin by deepening our understanding of what generative AI is, how it functions, and its limitations. We will then move on to practical exercises focused on prompt engineering and how these skills can be applied in our day-to-day roles as testers.

The workshop will consist of a series of presentations and hands-on exercises. Through interactive collaboration, we’ll incrementally build a foundational base of knowledge and skills that are essential for testers in a world where generative AI tools are becoming increasingly prevalent.

**ATTENDEE REQUIREMENTS**

Laptops are Required.

You must have Python installed.

All participants are asked to create at least one free account on the OpenAI, Google and Microsoft, to have access to ChatGPT, Gemini and Bing.
